How it Works
The Audiobook Recaps feature creates concise audio summaries based on the portion of the book you've already listened to. It's like a personalized 'previously on' segment, ensuring you're caught up with the story's progress. Spotify aims to make audiobook listening more seamless and intuitive, especially for those who take breaks from long titles.
Recaps appear after you've listened to at least 15-20 minutes of an audiobook, and they update as you progress through the chapters. The Recap button is conveniently located at the top of the audiobook's page, and with a tap, you get a quick recap of the story so far.
And this is the part most people miss...
Spotify has ensured that these summaries are spoiler-free, covering only the parts of the book you've already heard. So, no worries about accidentally spoiling the ending!
AI and Audiobook Protection
Spotify has clarified that while AI is used to create these recaps, the original audiobook recordings are protected. They do not use these recordings for AI training or voice generation, and the recaps do not mimic the narrator's voice or replace the full audiobook.
Spotify's Shuffle Update: More Control, Less Repetition
In addition to the Audiobook Recaps, Spotify has also made some exciting changes to their Shuffle feature. Premium users can now opt-out of Smart Shuffle if they prefer a more traditional shuffle experience without extra recommendations. Both free and premium users can now play any song during shuffle without disrupting the entire queue, and the default Shuffle has been updated to avoid repeating recently played tracks, making playlists feel fresher.
