The Penrith Rheged gallery is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a special exhibition showcasing the works of 25 artists. This exhibition, titled "Twenty Five & Onwards", is a tribute to the gallery's rich history and a look into the future of art in Cumbria. It features a diverse range of art forms, including painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and textiles, all created by artists from across the county. Many of these artists have previously exhibited at the gallery, while others are emerging talents. The exhibition draws inspiration from Rheged's first show, "Twelve", which featured work by a dozen artists. The gallery wanted to honor the incredible artists who have been a key part of its journey so far. "This exhibition is both a celebration of the past and an exciting look ahead to the future of art in Cumbria," said curator Claire Harrison. Among the artists featured is Derek Eland, whose work includes Lakeland paintings and pieces inspired by his time in Ukraine. The exhibition is free to enter and open daily until February 1st.
