A Porsche Triumph: Manthey's Championship Victory!
In a thrilling conclusion to the season, Porsche's Manthey 1st Phorm team secured a remarkable double victory, claiming both the manufacturers' championship and the LMGT3 title. While the Porsche 963 prototype faced challenges in its 50th race, the LMGT3 category saw Manthey's dominance shine through.
The LMGT3 category was a hotbed of excitement, with Manthey's Porsche 911 GT3 R taking center stage. Austrian factory driver Richard Lietz, Riccardo Pera from Italy, and American Ryan Hardwick delivered an impeccable performance, climbing from 18th to 4th and securing the FIA Endurance Trophy. This achievement marked Manthey's second consecutive championship win in the LMGT3 category, solidifying their status as a force to be reckoned with.
But here's where it gets controversial... Despite the success, the Porsche 963 prototype struggled to find its pace, finishing 13th and 14th overall. Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, reflected on the past three years with pride, highlighting their groundbreaking achievements.
"Our Porsche 963 has set the benchmark for LMDh race cars in the FIA WEC. It's been an incredible journey, and I'm incredibly proud of the entire team's dedication and hard work."
And this is the part most people miss... Despite the challenges, the Porsche 963's success story is undeniable. With three wins, 15 podiums, and an impressive overall performance, the factory outfit can look back on a highly successful championship run.
So, what do you think? Is Porsche's success in the LMGT3 category a sign of their overall dominance, or did the challenges faced by the 963 prototype overshadow their achievements? Let's spark a discussion in the comments and share our thoughts on this thrilling season finale!
