Perforator 0.0.7, the open-source continuous performance profiling tool, has been released with a host of new features. Since its open-sourcing by Yandex earlier this year, Perforator has been evolving to help businesses identify and address code inefficiencies, potentially saving them "billions of dollars a year on server infrastructure." Perforator 0.0.7 expands its scripting language support from Python to now also include PHP, with built-in PHP unwinding support for analyzing running PHP web services. It also adds basic support for the ARM CPU architecture, support for the AMD BRS instruction, and support for per-service microscopes, along with other fixes and improvements. On the user interface side, a "Tour" option has been added for exploring the UI, new suggestions for environment variable usage, improved tooltips with highlighting, and other UI enhancements. Yandex reports that Perforator is still running on "tens of thousands of servers in Yandex" and has already helped many developers fix performance issues in their services.
