Bold statement: Kirby Air Riders may be entering its final act, with updates fading away as the development team prepares to disband. And this is the part most people miss: the game’s long-awaited balance tweaks may soon stop, signaling the end of ongoing support.
Yesterday, Nintendo Life reported a substantial update for Kirby Air Riders—the Switch 2 exclusive has been upgraded to Version 1.2.0. What initially looked like a routine patch could, in fact, be one of the last major changes the game receives.
A roughly translated social post attributes the news to Masahiro Sakurai, the game’s director, who indicated that the Kirby Air Riders development team will be dissolving in the near future. With the team’s dissolution, there will be only a brief window left for further balance adjustments.
Sakurai also noted that there might be one final round of tweaks, after which development on the racer is likely finished.
For context, Sakurai had previously stated in October that there were no plans for DLC or similar content for Kirby Air Riders, insisting that the game already includes everything from the outset.
You can read Nintendo Life’s patch notes article for details on the latest update, which brings general improvements, balance changes, and bug fixes.
