The Wisconsin Badgers' transfer portal hopes took a hit as one of their top edge targets, Wendell Gregory, committed to the Kansas State Wildcats. Gregory, an All-Big 12 selection as a redshirt freshman in 2025, was a highly sought-after edge rusher and one of the best overall players in the transfer portal this offseason. He accumulated impressive stats, including 32 pressures, four sacks, and 19 stops, with a pass-rush win rate over 17 percent, which is a top mark in college football. But here's where it gets controversial: despite the Badgers' efforts, including getting him on a visit to campus, Gregory ultimately chose to visit Texas and Kansas State before committing to the Wildcats. This leaves the Badgers in search of another edge rusher to bolster their team in 2026. While they did secure a commitment from Arkansas edge Justus Boone, who profiles more as a run-stopper, and Tennessee freshman edge transfer Jayden Loftin, the team is still in need of one more edge rusher. With Gregory not heading to Madison, the Badgers are now looking for that final piece to complete their 2026 roster. But this is the part most people miss: the Badgers' outside linebacker group for 2026 already includes Sebastian Cheeks, Nicolas Clayton, Tyreese Fearbry, Micheal Garner, Jaylen Williams, Samuel Lateju, and Yahya Gaad. So, while the search for an edge rusher continues, the Badgers are still well-positioned to build a strong defense in 2026. What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with Gregory's decision?
